Another enjoyable reunion of the European captive community in chilly Luxembourg. I suspect numbers were a little down from 2 years ago but compensated by the geographic spread. Attendees from USA and Asia gave it an international feel.
A packed agenda which focused on today’s challenges -BEPS & Solvency 2 reality and today’s opportunity – Employee Benefits in captives. A lot of technical content! My suggestion for the next event programme would be to include more risk managers on the panels and grade the sessions by complexity.
A disappointment was the anticlimactic key note address which featured representatives of Captive associations considering closer cooperation and ties. A muted and inconclusive affair and I saw it as a missed opportunity!
The Captive Service awards dinner and ceremony on Monday night was a success and should be repeated.
The attendance of so many captive owners guaranteed the support of the markets and service providers. This led to quality networking opportunities. Thanks to sponsors and exhibitors who finance this event.
